David C.

Private tutor in East Rockaway, NY

Education

Graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in History from the Adelphi University Honors College (Garden City, NY) 2014. Currently PhD student in History at City University of New York Graduate Center

Experience

I have experience as a writing tutor; specifically I served and was paid to be a class writing assistant. In short, I helped the instructor prepare and assess writing assignments. For students, I was available for consultation, proofreading, and editing student writing assignments on a one-on-one basis either in person or via the web. As for tests, I have taken AP tests in several varieties of history and English reading and composition. I have taken both the SATs and ACTs tests and did reasonable well. The SAT I scored a 2060 and the ACT I scored a 31 (out of 36 and comparable to a 2200 on the SATs). I have also taken the GRE and did well on the reading portion of the test; I was in the 91st percentile in reading. I have graduated from a four year university and taken a wide variety of classes: • Coursework (history): U.S. 19th and 20th Century diplomatic history, classical Greek and modern European, Asian, and American military history, modern French history and society, film history, history of New York City, historiography, and historical writing/research skills. o Personal Research interests: U.S. 19th, 20th, and 21st Century diplomatic and military history • Coursework (non-history): physics, development and implications of artificial intelligence, modern and ancient philosophy, philosophy of war, peace, and terrorism, archaeology, classical literature, medieval English literature, 19th and 20th century literature, German language, and French language, culture, and translation techniques. Currently I am a doctoral student at CUNY Graduate Center in Manhattan, NYC. I am studying and researching 19th century American diplomatic and military history. Put simply, my interest in tutoring stems from a desire to not only teaching, but to communicate and serve as well.
