Education
I graduated from SUNY New Paltz in 1996, with a major in Psychology and a minor in Studio Art. After making the decision to make a career shift into writing in my mid-twenties, I studied creative non-fiction and screenwriting at Gotham in New York City.
Experience
I am a well published freelance writer, mostly in the realm of food and travel writing. I have also had my essays included in several book anthologies. I moved to South Korea to teach ESL in 2006. I worked with Elementary aged students from 2006-2010. I have been teaching Composition, Grammar and Conversation at the university level for the past four years, and have been tutoring students ranging from young learners to adults since 2007. I have recently moved back to the United States and am eager to start tutoring. Every student has a different learning style, and I believe that the structure of tutoring sessions should be designed around each learner's individual needs. I am especially interested in helping high school students develop college entry essays, helping non-native English speakers to improve their writing and conversation skills and working with students who have experienced difficulties in traditional classroom settings.

Hobbies
While working as a professor at Silla University in Busan, South Korea, I have maintained a position as the Culture Editor and core writer of a local lifestyle magazine. I am also an actively performing singer-songwriter. My background as a clinical counselor armed me with excellent assessment and evaluation skills, as well as the ability to problem solve specific challenges. In addition, I can bring the unique gift of a global perspective to my tutoring.
