Experience

Do you need tutoring at the college or graduate school level in a discipline in the Social Sciences or Humanities? Look no further! I am a professional Librarian and Adjunct Professor with Masters’ degrees in Library Science and History. My specializations are in the Social Sciences and Humanities, particularly in History, Political Science, Library Science, Law, Literature and Philosophy. I teach students how to write at the college and graduate school levels with a record of SUCCESS! Patient and flexible, I will work around your schedule and will meet at the location of your choice, in Nassau County, Manhattan or Queens County. I am an expert in Information Literacy, having taught the core competencies of Information Literacy, including: 1) Formulating questions about the topic you want to research 2) Locating the materials needed to answer those questions, whether in print or electronic format 3) Analyzing the sources you have found to determine reliability, bias and relevance 4) Synthesizing the information you have gathered from the sources to see how they relate to each other, discerning fact from opinion and areas of agreement and disagreement 5) Putting the information together in a logically consistent way by writing a scholarly paper. This includes organizing the paper with an introduction, body, conclusion, and making sure that it is in an acceptable format set forth by one of the style guides, such as MLA (Modern Language Association), Chicago Style, or APA (American Psychological Association). I will not sell your papers or write them for you, but I can help you improve your research and writing. Examples of my work are available on my Academia.edu page at: https://queens-cuny.academia.edu/RaymondSolga
